The lack of things to do is killing me! Besides the occasional golf lessons, Chinese self-study and working out, I have not been doing anything constructive since my internship ended. Aarghhhhhh!!!
I have made a decision. I'm gonna go back to Sung Siew on Monday and ask my ex-teachers to give me recommendations....hopefully it'll turn out well! I really have to start earning and spending my own cash. Money, the ultimate source of motivation to get me on the move man!
Btw, I do have an interesting experience to share in this seemingly lifeless and boring routine of mine. My mum's assistant asked me to help tutor her son & nieces, FOC of course. Being the ever-so-helpful person/son that I am, I accepted the voluntary work. Here's a brief account of my first lesson with the 3 little children (hereinafter referred to as "kids") aged 8, 9, and 10.

Timo: Y'all speak English?
Kids: ng sik, yud dit dou ng sik gong (canto) ( meaning they can't converse in english...at all ).
Timo: During English lessons, does ur teacher teach in English?
Kids: Mostly Mandarin......
Timo: How bout for math classes?
Kids: Also the same
Timo: Die

They can recognize words and write....a bit larrrr, but the reading/speaking part is terrible . The poor kids are good in math but the problem lies in understanding the question (which, btw is now in English ). I now see the rationale behind the protest amongst Chinese Schools regarding the change from chinese to english as the medium for language. There is no way they can perform well in math and science if they can't comprehend the exam questions. No offense, but most students from chinese primary schools in Sabah aren't exposed to English ( be it in school or back home ). You can call them overly-cheena or whatever but I think that a strong foundation in mandarin is a good thing. They can always pick up 'math and science in English' when they're in Sec School what! Haha, anyways just a personal opinion.

Since I have agreed to tutor them, I'm gonna put in effort man! My goal: Have them converse in English (at least to me) by September. Not too difficult a task to complete, eh? The problem lies in their confidence and level of exposure. I'll have them reading Enid Blyton and have their parents subscribing to cartoon network in no time! HA! Wish me luck!

Happening songs

I absolutely LOVE music. Adore it, man. Bus ride on the way back from college, showering, drifting off to sleep, surfing the net, chord-experimenting on my piano....these are the moments where I'm able to listen and fully connect to songs. Those that were able to give me goosebumps, where I'd go "The rhythm rocks!" or "now that is what a piano background should sound like..". I listen to all types of music, although I am still intrigued by the most current billboard hits ( just to keep myself updated as to where their "artistic development" has taken them to). To all my loyal blog readers, here's a list of my most played songs of the week ( complete with my usual annoying but i would say effective comments). Trust me, they're good so y'all better go download and give them a try!

1. City of Night- Emily Haines.
My friends will tell you that I'm always biased towards songs that over-emphasize on the piano. They're right! Haha, the simple-dotted rhythm and triplets of the piano chords define the entire song, literally from beginning to end. Vocals are so-so, think Marie Digby-Spell. A haunting ballad suitable for mega-emos like yours truly.

2.Nobody(Accoustic version )-Wondergirls.
Ok,I know it's K-pop but surprisingly the melody is still stuck in my head as I'm writing this. Absolutely resented the original, but this ballad version is definitely worth a try! The guitar opening is stunning, though I would've remove the heavy bass if I were them.

3. Don't trust me- 3OH!3.
This one here is downright awesome! I love electropop, very "Metrostation/Lady Gaga"-esque, plus the chorus is damn catchy and the Helen Keller line totally rocks!!

4.Bruises-Chairlift.
A great recommendation by ah Siah. The first few bars reminded me of 'Jet-Are you gonna be my girl' but then "Lily Allen's twin sister" started singing. LOL

5. Matahariku-Agnes Monica.
Power Ballad. Brilliant.

6.Chasing Pavements-Adele.
Love the chorus+vocals. THE ultimate emo-song of the century.Haha.

7. Love Song -Khalil Fong Dai Tung.
Very Justin Timberlake...the song is catchy though.

8.Kiss me through the phone -Soulja Boy.
Modern Hip-Hop/Rap= autotune=ZERO talent! With the technology nowadays, any Tom, Dick and Harry can come out with a record. Plastic Surgeons, start doing your job! A fave if I were to open a club.

9.Warwick Avenue-Duffy
Love her voice, man! Another British girl with bucketloads of soul.

10. My Love-The Dream and Mariah Carey.
Contemporary rhythm and blues with piano tinkling reminiscent of Touch My Body. The blackie's vocals suck though, totally over-powered by Mariah.

Well, that's about it. Download. Now.

Vasovagal Attack!

YO!

Will keep it short. Went to the gym today ( my first time in like, one and a half months). Did my usual sets, halfway through them, started feeling nauseous. For your info, I did not think anything was wrong since I do get that feeling sometimes during sets. So I continued and...then it came. The ringing in my ears started, intense heat, sweat started pouring out, my vision was blurred by white spots. God, the feeling was awful man! Made it to the changing room, sat down, turned on a cold shower. Lasted for at least a few minutes before it stabilized. It's a wonder I didn't pass out on the gym floor! Consulted my aunt about the episode and she told me that it is not unusual for a victim to lose consciousness! Lucky sia! This shows two things: I am a stupid fucktard and a very VERY unfit person now. Forgot to bring my bottle of glucose water there lar!!!! ULTIMATE EMBARASSMENT!!....arghhh.... Haih....wells this was definitely the highlight of my day.

Number of attacks so far: 2
What would have happened if I were to pass out on the gym floor: Uncle with the giant beer belly would have come to my rescue and at the same time blown up this brief me-falling-down incident into a full-scaled, over-the-top, juicy piece of Golf Club coffee table gossip ( complete with sound effects and D-list acting chops) tentatively titled "Fucking Lunatic Collapses while doing bicep curls". It'll start with " You know that _____'s son ah...fainted that day ah.." and end with "haiyo...young people nowadays, so spoilt and useless sia...". The story would last for months and by then I'll have secured a place in uncledom's list of Top ten mishaps and mishappenings 2009. Murder me....now. Haha, I got carried away again.

Anyways, until next time! :)

Life is wonderful

"La la la la la la la la la life is wonderful....."
Jason Mraz

Hello everyone. My results are finally out. Impressive? Nope, It was actually below my expectations. Disappointed? To some extent, yes. Satisfied? Definitely. I did well for my arts subjects, not my sciences though. I am really really satisfied since I finally got my parents' full consent to do Law and managed to meet the requirements of the uni ( not my first choice, but it's still a top ten Law school in UK ). Thank you so much for supporting my decision and for helping me fulfill my dream of pursuing Law.

To all of my friends, congratulations on all your results and best of luck for all your uni applications!!!!!!!!

I'll be slacking round before going over to UK in September, so if you guys know anyone who needs part time workers, tutors, do tell me ok? Haha, I have no idea what to do after my internship besides gyming and watching tele, so please help me out here!!

Cheers,
