0708- A poem of mixed feelings

It is 1:34 a.m., just finished an episode of "Friends",
Tried to microwave a pizza, stumbled, not an ounce of common sense;
Downloaded a poem ( Lord Alfred Tennyson's Tears, Idle Tears), was touched and hence
inspired to write on what has supposedly come to an end.

Flashback: My arrival to the lion city was met by both curiosity and disgust,
A meritocratic "pressure-cooker", where the dim are left behind;
Where diamonds are prized, while metals are left to rust,
Where only to books and tutorials do the students' heads grind.

Yet that impression that I had had a humongous flaw,
Nothing but one-sided, bitter, plain ignorance;
For at first the city has not yet struck me in awe,
As I still lacked the one thing that revealed it to me : Tolerance.

As I settled down in college 'happily',
As friends grew in numbers, and with acquaintances we laughed merrily;
As workload and tests piled steadily,
I presumably conformed to the system...readily.

I "managed" to achieve Cs Ds and Es,
Which until Singapore, were unbeknownst to me;
Never had it seemed so difficult you see,
Even if you worked hard that was no guarantee.

And yet there was fun like never before,
Activities and bonding sessions that made both our minds and bodies sore;
Disclaimer: I wasn't implying anything dirty, in case of an uproar,
Interesting things that completely wiped out a bore.

TJ Swimming was one thing that was constantly on my mind,
Where a team was born, bred, and cared for;
Where hardcore training sessions did not break but bind,
Where the roar of our team spirit drowned even the thunderclaps of Thor.

New experiences that were at first alien, but in time
I grew accustomed to, thanks to my parents bucketful of dimes;
Don't worry, I may be wild but I ain't committed no crime,
I apologize for not making sense but I am desperately trying to find something that rhymes.

I'll now answer the question that most people just don't seem to get,
"Do you leave Singapore with any regrets?"
What?! With my awesome class, sexy scholars and happening swimming sets?
Complaints? None. The time of my life? You bet!

Cheers,
TIMOthy

Prom

It is 5:03 in the morning and I have just finished bathing after coming back from prom. Woo-Hoo, I am disgustingly tired but don't worry, I promised myself to blog about tonight before I go to bed. Most popular question: How was the prom? In what sense, the food, the setting or the cam-whoring session. Food-wise, mediocre, they could have definitely done better. The hotel was ok, and I noticed that the new batch of SCs really did put a lot of effort into it. Cam--whoring sessions? Awesome! It was continuous throughout the night.

After prom, surprisingly I DID NOT migrate with the masses to DXO, the nearest club for the post-prom party. Instead I followed all my classmates to KBox. For the record, singing karaoke is not as much fun as clubbing but I still really do enjoy it. We screamed and shouted all the way till 3 plus. ;-)

I am feeling a LIL' emo now, since I realized that I might not be seeing some of my classmates anymore. Awwww, Nic damn that US trip! hahaha...anywaysI just want to say that 12/07 was a really fun class to be in and I really, really did enjoy myself.Rahh, what am I saying, I most probably will be back for my results anyway........do keep in touch ok?

Date: 2 December 2008
Days left in Singapore: 7
'Emo'-meter ( on a scale of 1 to 10 ): 9.5

Honestly, I really don't feel like leaving Singapore now...sien. It's been tremendously fun besides all the shitty school work, stress, pressure and A-levels..LOL. I am really gonna miss this intriguing little island. To make myself feel better, I am going make full use of my last week here and squeeze as much fun out of this pulau as possible. Wish me luck!!!;-)

Cheers,

TIMOthy

p.s. Here are some teaser shots of my prom photos and those taken during our class chalet outing. The rest are on my facebook account, so add me if y'all haven't already done so!
