The life of a student

HELLO!

I am so sorry y'all, it's been quite a while since I last updated my blog, really really busy, well y'all know I've been busy doing what, since everyone is doing it too. Someone once told me saying the 'm' word is taboo ( what kind of crap is that?! ) but anyways for my prelims sake, I won't write it out in full. Haha, well, people keep asking me what I've been up to the past few weeks, and here's my standard reply. Read: " Ermmmmm.... studying, doing revision tutorials, and erm...studying?" Lol, I really did put in effort this time round, really really hope that I'll improve a lot for prelims, not just as a confidence booster for the upcoming As but also for my uni application..haha. Anyways, my life for the past few weeks have been uneventful. Oh, we did have a swim team barbeque the day after Sportsmen appreciation Ceremony ( which was about three weeks ago, never mind ).

Prelims is exactly two weeks away, and how prepared am I, y'all would ask? I'll compare it to my previous exams...don't even talk about my first common test, it was the worst test I ever had in my entire life. Compared to promos I am actually quite prepared this time ( dunno le, don't be cocky, later die!!!! ) I have to admit that I still have a lot left to revise, considering that Singapore A levels combine the whole of the two year syllabus ( I have no idea how the British system works, but I heard that they split the exam up into two ) lol, anyways, pray I'll do well.

Besides my time studying in libraries, I still have time to think and reflect ( please.... ). Well, I AM 18 , and after this year, I 'll be enrolling into uni, do a specific course, graduate, work, blah blah blah. Let's not get there yet. I'll start with my two years in Singapore ( I am extremely sian now, and I think that all the stress made me think about blogging my thoughts and emotions, so here I am writing this ). Singapore has been, how do I put it, educational? I won't deny that but there's something more. Hmmmmm, fun? True to a certain extent, considering I have quite a lot of company. Relaxing? WTF!!!!!! Absolutely not...haha, just kidding, I ve definitely grown more mature, have more opinions and more independant. I wouldn't say that I'm very serious now, I find it very hard to be at times ;-) Anyways, the Singapore friends that I've come to know have been really friendly, entertaining and memorable.

Next, my future. My parents and I have been putting in a lot of thought into the suitable career that I SHOULD pursue ( I emphasize on the word 'parents' )OK, first of all, I'm not being bitter towards them for putting a lot time and effort into helping me decide on my course next year, but I keep telling myself that its my life and its me that is going to be affected by what I choose. I know my parents want what's best for me and I also know that they're pushing the medicine/dentistry envelope at me, but I really have to say that I am not that kind of person that is interested in medicine or dentistry. My family now has like, 4 doctors? I know that it's stable income, immediate recognition, social security etc, but if I think that I'm not suited for the job, I think it'd be very difficult for me to pursue an almost decade-long education in it ( not to mention working in the medical field for another 40 odd years. )

Personally, my main choice would be Law. I know that I don't know a lot about this profession ( a litle bit of research here and there doesn't help much ) and I know that everyone is saying that the market is flooded with lawyers, pay is not good, tough life, extremely competitive and so on, but I think there's something in it that made me want to be in it ever since I was is sec 1 right? I know that it's very chidish ( do you even know what you were doing when you're in sec 1? ) but I have relatives who are lawyers, and I do notice the the way they lead their lives, I know its hard work, especially in Hong Kong, but I always always saw myself doing the 'people' thing ( inter-personal skills, public speaking....) I would not rule out Law just yet.

I'm starting to talk crap again, am very VERY tired now, there's still consultation at 1.30 with math tutor, FOCUS!!!!!! I'll do well for my exams first before decide on where i wanna go or what i want to do. Will keep you all updated ok? CHILL!!!!!!!!

Cheers,
TIMOthy ;-)
